A joinery price is only as accurate as the information behind it. When we receive a complete tender pack we can return a firm price with a clear scope. When we receive a single perspective image, the best anyone can give is an estimate with a long list of exclusions. Here is what helps.
The essentials
- Design drawings. Plans, elevations and details for every area with joinery. Interior design drawings matter more here than architectural ones.
- Bill of quantities. Even an approximate BOQ shows how the consultant has broken down the scope, which makes prices easy to compare between bidders.
- Specifications and finishes schedule. Species, laminate codes, lacquer colours, stone and metal finishes. "Walnut veneer" can be priced; "wood finish" can't.
- Door and ironmongery schedules. Essential for door packages: sizes, types, fire ratings and hardware for every opening.
What sharpens the price
- the site location and access, including whether there is a loading bay or crane
- the programme: when areas will be ready for joinery and when handover is due
- the approval route: who approves shop drawings and samples, and how long that usually takes
- any client or brand standards, such as a hotel operator's FF&E guidelines
If you don't have all of this yet
Send what you have. At early design stages we can price from design intent and reference images, and our engineering team can help develop the details. The price will carry assumptions, and we list them clearly so they can be closed out as the design develops.
An early conversation with the manufacturer costs nothing. A redesign after tender costs a lot.
How we respond
Our estimators review the package, ask the questions that affect the price, and send back a quotation with the scope, inclusions and exclusions set out line by line, together with a proposed programme.
Request a quote and attach your drawings or BOQ. PDF, DWG, Excel and ZIP files are all fine.
Planning a package like this?
Send the drawings or BOQ and our estimators will come back with scope, programme and a price.
